This post was highly requested after I shared that I couldn’t stop finding cute fashion items on Amazon! Seriously Amazon has stepped up their game this year and people (myself included) are going crazy over the affordable fashion finds! Skip to the bottom of this post to see all of my February Amazon purchases.
As a newer blogger, I have to resist buying big splurge items in order to keep an updated closet at all times! Plus, you guys love when I share affordable clothes because who doesn’t??
Buying inexpensive clothes can be hard though! Are you getting good quality for this low price? Will it last? Will it fit or look like it does in the picture? Amazon does not make ANY of these questions easier! Luckily, I have some good tips for you as you begin this adventure!
AMAZON SHOPPING TIPS
1 Use basic words in the search bar and then filter your search down. For example, if I want a white short sleeve ruffle top, I’ll probably just type in “ruffle short sleeve” in the search bar, filter to Women’s Fashion > Tops and then filter by the color white. If you type in EXACTLY what you want, a lot of times you’ll only get a result of about 27 items.
2 Filter customer reviews 4+ Stars – 95% of the time I filter my searches to 4+ stars. If people have taken the time to leave less than 4 stars, I’m not going to waste my time looking at it, especially when there are so many similar items on this website. (Side note: this is why a lot of smaller brands will collaborate with influencers and give product in exchange for Amazon reviews)
3 Filter for Prime, if you want (I always do). I usually think the Prime items are the best quality. Going back to my white short sleeve ruffle top, by the time I’ve gotten down to step 3, I’ve narrowed my results down to 393 and I have a full list of items that are exactly what I’m looking for. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see which top I ended up with!
4 Don’t sort – when I sort Price Low to High or by Customer Review, for some reason it always knocks out a ton of the items. I haven’t really looked into this, but I just accept it and don’t sort.
5 Let the photos draw you in, but don’t be fooled by them – Amazon doesn’t have many seller guidelines, so a lot of times pictures are fake or were stolen from big companies or other sellers. For example, back in the fall there was an extremely popular color block cardigan by Madewell and they had soooo many dupes on Instagram. They either used Madewell’s pictures or used popular influencer’s pictures! With that being said, just because it isn’t their pic doesn’t mean it isn’t a good item….so..
6 Always always always read reviews – if you don’t do any of my other steps, do this one! If I can’t figure out the sizing, fit, or quality from the reviews, I probably won’t buy it. I want to make sure I’m getting something that isn’t going to deteriorate in the wash, something that is going to fit my body how I want it to, something that looks like what is shown in the pics, etc.
7 Don’t buy the first item you see – If there’s one of them, odds are there are 50 of them. Scroll down and see if you can find the exact same item in the “Those who viewed this also viewed these” section. You might be able to save yourself a dollar or two!
8 Use the Amazon credit card! Josh and I have an Amazon card and only use it on our Amazon purchases. You get 5% cash back!!! We have it set up so the money automatically loads into our Amazon account, so it’s nice when I go to buy something and randomly have $5 in credit to use!
I hope y’all found this post useful and will find all the cute stuff on Amazon now that you’re pros! If you still need some guidance, here are all the Amazon purchases I made in February! Click on the pictures to be direct to the product’s page.
HAPPY SHOPPING!
Love, Chloe
