In my opinion, it is better to be overdressed than to be under-dressed. Nowadays, most weddings call for either black-tie formal or dressy casual. My go-to wedding dress is a short cocktail dress with a hint of business casual.
A few of my wedding attire tips:
1) I like to avoid anything revealing (I mean I do this in general but especially for weddings) because you want all eyes on the bride, not on you! Sorry ’boutcha!!
2) Also, as you probably know, white is still a no-no. I think this is widely understood, but I still hear horror stories every year! If you think the dress has too much white in it, it probably does.
3) Use the wedding invitation as an indication! If it doesn’t say outright what you should wear, take your best guess on the type of invitation. The fancier the invitation, most likely the fancier the attire. Note: a lot of couples now have wedding websites where they will indicate dress code, so be sure to check that out if they have one!
4) You can splurge on a dress like this! You can re-wear it to multiple weddings, especially if the guests will be different. You can also re-wear the dress to any other formal events you have going on. I think every woman should have 2-3 staple wedding guest dresses in their closet!
